Dena Faulkner

Born and raised in Texas, Dena has always had a love for animals.  As a
child, she had many pets including dogs, a rabbit, turtles, gerbils,
hamsters and anything else her parents would allow her to keep.

Dena graduated from Fort Worth Christian High School in 2000 and continued
her education at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.  During her
Abilene years, she had the opportunity to work part time in two different
veterinary clinics, volunteered at the Dallas World Aquarium and worked with
the Abilene Zoo where she was part of an endangered species program. During
one summer break, she served on a Wild Whale and Dolphin Research Team for
the Pacific Whale Foundation in Maui, Hawaii. She has also received her
scuba diving certification.

In 2003, Dena transferred to Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California
and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science (biology
emphasis). During her time in California, she was accepted into Hollywood
Animals Training School where she received her Exotic Animal Husbandry and
Training Certificate. Dena is a member of the American Association of
Zookeepers (AAZK).

Dena also has a very special place in her heart for children and loves
working with them. During college she spent parts of her summer volunteering
and being a counselor at Camp of the Hills, a Christian camp for inner city
children outside of Austin.

She now lives in Carrollton with her very lovable beagle, Daisy.
